Job Description

Washington, DC - Number 1 Sons is hiring Saturday and Sunday farmers market delivery drivers to join our team for this year's farmers market season. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic to deliver and pick up supplies to area farmers markets using a small box truck.

Job Description

Market driving shifts start in the early morning, at 5am or 6am, depending on the route. Drivers are responsible for loading their vehicles and assisting fellow drivers to load out the day’s market supplies. Drivers then deliver products and supplies to the farmers markets on their routes. While delivering markets, the drivers also help set up the tents and tables for each market and ensure all of the correct products and supplies are delivered to each market.

After delivering your farmers markets, drivers have a long break during market hours. This is not paid shift time. Some drivers take a nap, others have watched a movie, studied or even done handyman jobs.

Drivers pickup various farmers markets according to the pickup route. After picking up markets you will return to our "pickle factory" in NE DC to unload your truck and prepare items for the next day. The ending time isn't set - we end when the work is done, generally around 3:30 - 4:30p.

Job Requirements

It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure the right supplies are at the right place on time, so applicants should possess a sense of urgency, attention to detail, punctuality, and good communication skills.

This is a physical role that requires repeated lifting and carrying. We work outdoors in all weather conditions, and you must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.

Delivery drivers must communicate with other staff during their shift to keep all parties up to date. This includes working closely with the factory manager and fellow drivers during loading and unloading As well as sharing ETA and generally coordinating with market staff using messaging applications and text/phone calls.

Qualifications

  • Clean driving record, and valid drivers license
  • Experience driving commercial vehicles is strongly preferred

  • Get-it-done attitude
  • Clean and detail oriented
  • able to communicate effectively with coworkers
