About AtoZ Learning Club

AtoZ Learning Club is a literacy nonprofit dedicated to building confidence in Black and Brown boys through engaging storytelling, inclusive books, and family-centered programming. Our mission is to empower children and their families through literacy, representation, and community-based education initiatives.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Finance Board Member to support the financial oversight and sustainability of AtoZ Learning Club. This role is perfect for someone with a background in finance, accounting, or budgeting who is passionate about educational equity and wants to use their skills to make a meaningful impact.

As a member of our Board of Directors, you’ll play a critical role in advising on financial decisions, reviewing budgets and grant allocations, and helping ensure transparency and long-term financial health.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and reviewing the annual operating budget

  • Provide financial guidance to support strategic planning and growth

  • Monitor financial reports and ensure responsible stewardship of funds

  • Support grant budgeting and help ensure compliance with reporting requirements

  • Serve on or support the Finance or Fundraising Committee

  • Collaborate with the Board and Executive Director on key financial documents

  • Review financial practices and help strengthen internal controls

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in finance, accounting, nonprofit budgeting, or financial planning

  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting or grant budgets (preferred)

  • Commitment to our mission and values around literacy and equity

  • Willingness to contribute 3–5 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • CPA or financial certification is a plus, but not required
