Technician Assistant opening at the Animal Hospital of Dauphin County located near Harrisburg and Hershey, PA. We are a progressive full spectrum small animal practice seeking a motivated, dedicated, hard-working, Technician Assistant to join our team; experience is preferred, but not required. The Animal Hospital of Dauphin County has been caring for pets in the greater Harrisburg and Hershey communities since 1962.

Animal Hospital of Dauphin County proudly opened their second location, Animal Hospital of Dauphin County in June of 2021 to provide care for more pets and serve more families in our community.

Qualifications:

• Ability to maintain an independent work pace
• Ability to work cooperatively with others
• Basic Medical Terminology
• Ability to handle the average cat and dog, and a variety of small animal species
• Ability to tolerate a work environment that may consist of wet floors, humidity, hair, dust, dander, loud sounds, unpleasant smells, bodily fluids and any other environmental factors caused by the presence of many animals and their associated care
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to stand, walk, crouch repeatedly and can lift and carry up to 50lbs
• Ability to be on your feet for 90% of the day
• Scheduling flexibility

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily feeding of the animals as directed by the Veterinarian Technician
• Assist Veterinary Technician with patient treatments including obtaining TPR
• Assist Veterinary Technician with technician appointment including vein puncture, radiographs and injections
• Recover Surgical Patients
• Prepare specimens for outside laboratory
• Perform In-house bloodwork
• Assist Veterinarian in Exam Room with restraint and charting exam findings
• Clean and Pack Surgical Kits
• Report any observed medical problems to proper staff
• Report any observed behavioral problems to proper staff
• Provide a clean, sanitary, and comfortable living environment to each animal in our care
• Sweep, Mop, and Clean Kennel, Surgical and Exam Rooms
• Wash and Dry Laundry
• Clean and stock hospital areas as directed by the Technician Staff
• Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
• Safely control and handle animals
• Exhibit a low level of absenteeism
• Other various tasks as assigned by Technician Supervisor
• At all times, be an upstanding example of animal care and compassion, both while at work and during personal time

Compensation based on Experience. Schedule would fluctuate between AM (7:30-3) and PM (1:30-9) shifts as well as 1 Saturday/month (8-4)

Job Type: Part time

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Harrisburg, PA 17112: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Veterinary experience: 1 year (Required)
