Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join the leadership team at a high-end Italian Coastal restaurant in the heart of New Orleans. Our menu draws inspiration from the Amalfi Coast—light, ingredient-driven, and seafood-forward—with no red sauce in sight. We're seeking a talented Sous Chef who shares our passion for clean, elegant flavors and elevated service.

Sous Chef Benefits and Compensation:
  • Employer-sponsored health insurance
  • Free manager parking
  • Dry cleaning stipend
  • 40 hours of PTO available immediately upon hire
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Annual Christmas bonus
  • 401(k) with employer match after 1 year of employment
Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years’ experience in fine dining or upscale kitchens
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a professional kitchen team
  • Deep knowledge of seafood preparation and coastal Italian techniques
  • ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must Haves:
  • Execute and maintain consistency for a seafood-focused menu rooted in Italian coastal cuisine
  • Lead daily prep and nightly service with a calm, organized, and disciplined approach
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop seasonal specials featuring fresh Gulf and imported Mediterranean ingredients
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in delicate techniques like crudo, whole fish butchery, and house-made pastas
  • Ensure tight inventory control, ordering accuracy, and minimal waste in a premium product environment
  • Maintain pristine kitchen cleanliness and full compliance with safety standards
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills:
  • Experience in a coastal Mediterranean, seafood-focused, or Italian fine dining kitchen (no red sauce)
  • Knowledge of Italian olive oils, imported cheeses, and regional specialty products
  • Experience with house-made focaccia, fresh pasta, or whole fish presentation
  • A strong sense of plating aesthetics with a minimalist, clean approach
  • Desire to grow into a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef role in the future
