What is Glimmer?

Glimmer Fics ( glimmerfics.com ) is a platform for interactive fanfiction, built for and by people who love to read. We started Glimmer to give people a way to escape into the stories of their dreams and play those stories as the main character. Our focus is on harnessing the creative energy of fandom, especially targeting the underserved female fanfiction and romance market. Glimmer stories enable players to develop personalized relationships with characters over epic story arcs. Our unique feature is Glimmer's powerful Story Engine, which provides AI tools that empower writers to craft interactive stories without the need for extensive resources.

Glimmer has secured $2.9M in funding from investors including Hidden Capital, Stan Vishnevskiy (CTO of Discord), Brendan Iribe (ex-CEO of Oculus), and Peter Sellis (Head of Product at Discord). Since our December 2024 launch, we've reached 30K MAU, with a rapid growth rate of 35% week-over-week, and our users are highly engaged (average session length of 50 minutes). Who are we?

The co-founders met at Harvard ('12), bonding over their love of English Literature. The CEO was the second product manager at Discord and led product for Discord's Gaming division. The CPO is an experienced writer with decades of fanfiction and fandom roleplaying experience.

What are we looking for?

We are hiring a Founding Engineer for Glimmer Fics (the CEO will also continue coding). We're seeking a full-stack engineer with 5+ years of experience, an interest in AI, and preferably some startup experience. If you want to shape the future of storytelling, fandom, and AI consumer products—while enjoying the wildest stories—you should join us!

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain code across the full stack (backend, frontend, and everything in between).
2. Build and maintain our apps across multiple platforms.
3. Create player and author-facing experiences.
4. Collaborate on Glimmer's AI-powered Story Engine.
5. Drive company strategy and direction with the co-founders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience (senior+ level).
• Interest in AI LLMs (not required but preferred).
• Startup experience is desirable.
• Interest in stories, narrative games, webcomics, visual novels, or other media is a bonus.
