LightFeather is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong GitLab platform expertise to support and enhance enterprise DevSecOps and collaboration environments. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of reliability engineering and platform enablement—ensuring that GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and related infrastructure are optimized, secure, and delivering measurable value to mission objectives.

This individual will proactively drive automation, implement CI/CD best practices, and advocate for broader GitLab adoption across the organization while ensuring compliance with federal standards such as NIST 800-53.

Location: Fully Remote (EST hours)
Job Type: Full-time
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Security Clearance or Top Secret Security Clearance

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize GitLab, Jira, and Confluence, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

  • Design, implement, and enhance CI/CD pipelines in GitLab with integrated security and compliance checks.

  • Develop and maintain automation for build, deployment, monitoring, and platform management.

  • Manage infrastructure with Docker, Kubernetes (K8s, EKS, Helm), and Linux server administration.

  • Conduct gap analysis and recommend platform enhancements to improve efficiency and user adoption.

  • Act as a GitLab ambassador, demonstrating value and encouraging adoption across stakeholders.

  • Provide technical consultation on upgrades, features, and integrations to strengthen platform capabilities.

  • Ensure compliance with federal security requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53, FedRAMP).

  • Support cloud environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a focus on scalable, reliable infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.

  • Strong, hands-on GitLab administration and CI/CD experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Proficiency in Linux administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, etc.).

  • Skilled in Bash/Shell and Python for automation.

  • Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s, EKS, Helm).

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical value.

  • Prior federal government experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications or platforms.

  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Experience migrating applications from on-premises to cloud environments.

  • Proven track record of improving or optimizing platforms such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or Ansible.
