Summary

Rock City Gardens is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Part-Time Tour Guide to deliver memorable and educational experiences to guests by sharing the history, legends, and attractions of Rock City Gardens. Tour Guides play a vital role in ensuring that guests enjoy their visit and leave with a deeper appreciation for this iconic destination. Under the direction of the Guest Relations Manager the Tour Guide is responsible for performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

  • Delivers excellent guest service to internal and external customers in line with the organization’s mission, culture, and values.
  • Models appropriate guest and partner interaction at all times.
  • Provides guided tours for groups of various sizes, including schools, corporate outings, and general visitors, ensuring information is accurate, engaging, and tailored to the audience.
  • Learns, memorizes, and delivers detailed tour scripts. 
  • Greet guests warmly, answer questions and assist with wayfinding or special requests during the tour experience.
  • Presents facts about Rock City Gardens' history, geology, and attractions, including Lookout Mountain, the Fairyland Caverns, and the Seven States View.
  • Uses storytelling and interactive elements to enhance guest engagement and create memorable experiences.
  • Monitors tour groups to ensure safety during their visit, particularly on trails, bridges, and high-traffic areas.
  • Assists with special events, programs, or other guest activities as needed.
  • Uphold the mission of “Creating Memories Worth Repeating” and exemplify company values: Innovation, Communication, Learning, Appreciation, Accountability, and Proactivity.
  • Provides information, directions, and recommendations for other area attractions as needed. 
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in hospitality and tourism preferred. 
  • Possess a kind, outgoing, and energetic personality with a desire to engage with guests and provide excellent guest service.
  • Ability to display a professional, engaging, and polite image to guests and team partners.
  • Ability to speak effectively to small groups (up to 15 guests) while maintaining a high level of engagement and enthusiasm. 
  • Ability to obtain and share in-depth knowledge about the history and lore of Rock City Gardens. 
  • Ability to read and understand operational documents.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced, efficient environment. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.  
  • Ability to provide a flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
  • Required to regularly use hands and fingers. Ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds. Required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch frequently. Must be able to stand regularly.

Compensation details: 14-14.25 Hourly Wage
