Job Title: Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Location: Remote Serving Students in Ohio

Position Type: Full-TimeContract

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide virtual instructional services to students in Ohio. This remote position involves working with students with visual impairments in a variety of educational settings, ensuring they have equitable access to the curriculum and specialized support tailored to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments via virtual platforms.

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP teams.

  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials using accessible formats (braille, large print, audio, digital).

  • Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments (LMA) virtually when appropriate.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.

  • Recommend and assist with the integration of assistive technology to enhance learning.

  • Provide training and consultation to staff and families regarding visual impairments and accessibility strategies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field.

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensure with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.

  • Experience working with students with visual impairments across grade levels (K12).

  • Strong understanding of assistive technologies, including screen readers, magnification tools, and braille devices.

  • Comfortable using remote teaching platforms and digital accessibility tools.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Reliable internet connection and a private, secure home office setup.
