We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing mortgage loan applications to determine the risk involved in lending money. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions based on comprehensive analysis. The Mortgage Underwriter will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with lending regulations and company policies while providing exceptional service to clients. This job will be full remote but you must live in Arizona. The closer to Phoenix, AZ the better.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze loan applications, credit reports, and financial documents to assess borrower eligibility.
• Evaluate risk factors associated with loan requests using financial software and technical accounting principles.
• Conduct thorough equity research to support underwriting decisions.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to loan origination.
• Identify potential fraud through detection methods and implement appropriate measures for fraud prevention.
• Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to facilitate the underwriting process.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio management practices to ensure ongoing compliance with lending standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience in mortgage underwriting or a related financial services role.
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including risk assessment and portfolio management.
• Familiarity with loan origination processes and documentation requirements.
• Proficiency in using financial software for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear reporting of findings.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• You must live in Arizona.
