CommScope is seeking an  Optical Connectivity Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in  Shakopee, MN.

What to Expect:

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a ssisting the Fiber Optic Product Engineering team in the generation of new product ideas driven by customer feedback and market trends.

 

You Will Make an Impact By: 

  • Leading and creating designs of products used in Fiber Optic Networks and generate associated product assembly drawings & documentation for manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with operations/manufacturing during the design cycle to optimize design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines on product improvements and new product solutions.
  • Developing product bills of material and help oversee product BOM loading into SAP.
  • Work closely with CommScope factory locations and suppliers to introduce new product designs into manufacturing and assist with the development of assembly work instructions.
  • Work with our development lab to test and demonstrate product compliance to requirements.

 

Required Qualifications for Consideration

  • Current Sophomore or Junior standing in a BS or master’s student in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Proven strong academic performer with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
  • A strong desire to learn and grow by applying your education so far to real world engineering challenges

You Will Excite Us If You

  • Have some experience in solid modeling software and data management – CREO experience preferred
  • Have some background in FEA analysis. Ansys preferred.
  • Possess good hands-on mechanical ability.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong Computer Skills
