Join to apply for the Genetic Counselor-Intermediate role at UT Health San Antonio . Responsible for coordinating specialized genetic counseling services for Hemophilia Treatment Center for Adults and Pediatrics, including Pediatric Neurology and Developmental Pediatrics Clinic. Tasks involve designing, developing, implementing, and supervising patient/family genetic counseling programs. Analyzes and interprets information about genetic disorders and inheritance patterns to aid diagnosis and treatment. Counsels patients and families by explaining aspects of the disease, current knowledge, and potential diagnostic techniques. Responsibilities Interview patients, relatives, and others to gather and evaluate data on medical and family history. Provide counseling to patients and families regarding genetic aspects of diseases and diagnostic options. Coordinate genetic counseling services for specific patient populations. Analyze genetic information to support diagnosis and treatment decisions. Make independent decisions on significant matters within scope of responsibilities. Lead projects resulting in publications, grants, or presentations. Train students and colleagues in clinical settings. Provide expertise and guidance to peers. Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and patient care activities. Complete paperwork and follow-up activities independently. Participate actively in team meetings and collaborations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of clinical neurogenetics and human genetics. Understanding of psychosocial aspects like risk perception and support mechanisms. Ability to assess concerns and recommend solutions during patient care. Skills in educating patients about complex genetic information. Supportiveness towards anxious patients and families. Knowledge of clinical and research resources; ability to perform literature searches. Education & Certification Master's degree in genetic counseling required. Certified Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetics Counseling. Experience Minimum of three (3) years related experience required.
