POSITION SUMMARY

This position will report directly to and will maintain consistent communication with the Office Manager for Maintenance & Construction and CEOs for coordination of all job tasks. The Gardener and Light Maintenance associate will be responsible for maintaining the grounds of residential properties in the Los Angeles area and help with light maintenance work for the properties assigned. The associate is responsible for upholding a high standard of cleanliness, strong ethics, ability to work independently and promptness of service.

This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company capable of delivering materials to job sites; therefore, the prospective employee must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current, valid drivers license in their state of residence, and maintain insurance coverage of at least the minimum amount required by California law.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities

Punctual attendance at the worksite is required.
Complete work assigned, and document work performed.
Use TSheets, a time record keeping system to keep track of all daily work.
Perform landscape work as directed by direct supervisor.
  • Report any suspicious activity at the sites to direct supervisor.
  • Perform other light maintenance duties as requested and assigned by direct supervisor.
Safety & Community

Maintain a consistently professional and ethical demeanor at all times.
Maintain frequent and consistent communication with direct supervisor.
Handle the tenants belongings with care to prevent any damage or harm while doing projects inside the apartments.
Ensure the proper attire is always worn for the workplace.
Take appropriate safety precautions for every project.

Property Landscaping and Light Maintenance

Mow lawns, trim edges, and maintain landscape areas to a high standard.
Prune and trim shrubs, hedges, and trees as needed.
Weed flower beds, lawns, and other landscaped areas.
Maintain, plant, and cultivate flower beds and planters.
Apply mulch, fertilizer, and pesticides as directed (following safety protocols and licensing requirements, if applicable).
Rake leaves, remove debris, and maintain general cleanliness of grounds.
Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to ensure proper watering.
Identify and repair leaks, broken sprinklers, and other irrigation system malfunctions. Program and adjust timers as needed.
Install new irrigation systems to make sure landscaping receives the proper amount of water to thrive.
Sweep walkways, patios, and parking areas and remove trash and debris from grounds and common areas. Maintain cleanliness of designated outdoor areas.
Maintain your gardening tools and equipment in functional and clean order.
Perform light maintenance work for apartments about 50% of the time.
Do trash hauling, painting, repairs, and anything else needed as directed by supervisor.
Communicate effectively with direct supervisor regarding the status of landscaping and maintenance projects.

Requirements

Minimum basic computer skills are required.
Must be able to quickly learn and utilize work order and timesheet computer software programs.
Pickup truck or similar reliable vehicle which can be used to transport tools, equipment, and materials between job sites and between hardware stores and job sites.
Customer service positive attitude.
Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.
Must have own set of tools of the trade.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Minimum 3 years prior experience with landscaping and light maintence.
Business hours are from 8am till 4:30pm

Compensation

The hourly rate is $18.50 - $25.00, paid biweekly.
75% Employer-sponsored health insurance is available after a 90-day probationary period.
1-week paid vacation accrual starting after 90-day probationary period.
Use of company issued cell phone with internet connection.
Use of company issued tablet with internet connection.
Reimbursement for mileage based on actual mileage and State of CA reimbursement guidelines.
All supplies are provided by management.
