Job Description

Doyon Government Group is seeking a Construction Estimator to lead cost estimation efforts on Bid-Build and Design-Build projects for USACE and NAVFAC clients. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced estimators in the Washington, D.C. , Maryland , and Virginia areas to contribute to high-profile federal construction projects .

What You'll Do

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial building and civil/public works projects
  • Develop project schedules , budgets , and cost allocations
  • Review project specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements
  • Manage itemized lists and pricing for labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing
  • Build and maintain historical cost data and estimating records
  • Lead value engineering , cost-saving strategies , and bid development efforts
  • Supervise and mentor junior estimators, engineers, and team members
  • Ensure compliance with EEO/AA policies , Federal contracting standards , and industry regulations

What You Bring

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in construction estimating for USACE, NAVFAC , or similar federal projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management , engineering , or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff , MC2 , and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations, construction sequencing , and scope packaging
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing EEO/AA compliance in federal contracting
  • Familiarity with vertical and horizontal construction projects
  • DC/MD/VA area candidates preferred due to proximity to project locations

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in design-build , bid preparation , and cost modeling
  • Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and civil drawings
  • Working knowledge of statistical and engineering principles (calculus, algebra, differential equations – a plus)
  • Leadership and mentorship experience within an estimating or project management team
