In-person/hybrid position (must be based in the Bay Area)

Embarcadero Media Foundation, the Peninsula’s leading nonprofit news organization, is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Intern to join our team.

This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to develop and execute dynamic marketing campaigns, brainstorm and schedule engaging social media content, and assist with community-facing events. You will gain practical experience in marketing concepts, social media, event coordination, and community engagement. If you're an idea-driven individual who enjoys connecting with audiences, loves local storytelling, and wants to make a real impact, we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll do

  • Create and schedule social media content across platforms
  • Develop concepts and write captions for social media campaigns that drive engagement
  • Brainstorm fresh ideas to grow and engage our digital audience
  • Help coordinate and support community events, including in-person event promotion and on-site assistance
  • Work cross-functionally with editorial, sales, and design teams

You’re a great fit if you have

  • A passion for community engagement, local journalism, and creative storytelling
  • Strong writing skills, especially for social media
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g. Social Pilot, Later, Hootsuite)
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Enthusiasm for brainstorming and building new ideas
  • A sharp eye for style and design
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising, or a related field
  • Available to work 10–20 hours per week (tailored to accommodate school schedule)
  • Based in the Bay Area and able to attend occasional in-person meetings or events
  • Interest in contributing to the mission of a nonprofit news organization
  • Experience maintaining or creating social media calendars and campaign ideas
  • Familiarity with developing marketing materials
  • Comfort attending community-facing events
