Driller’s Helper

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A driller helper will assist the driller and/or lead driller in the performance of drilling techniques. The helper will help move, set up and operate drilling rigs and related equipment to drill holes for geotechnical exploration soil test borings on construction sites. Work is generally performed outdoors. The work is generally physically demanding. Some travel is necessary, as we perform drilling throughout north, central and western Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE – This Role:

· Assist in drilling operations as directed by on-site Driller and Operations Manager.

· Expedite field supplies.

· Perform shop duties at the direction of Lead Driller and Operations Manager.

· Assist in locating, measuring and laying out test boring locations utilizing plans and GPS coordinates.

· Load and unload drill rigs, equipment and supplies to and from shop and jobsite.

· Collect, label, and preserve soil, rock, and groundwater samples under direction of Driller

· Clean and maintain drilling and support equipment.

· Set-up drill rigs and equipment at jobsite under direction of Driller.

· Excavate and clean mud pits and drains as well as mud tubs.

· Assist and/or perform field permeability tests.

· Operate equipment such as pumps for air, water and mud, and equipment and tools used to correct problems in drilled holes caused by mechanical breakdowns or by harmful or difficult natural conditions.

· Carry out minor maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and cleaning

Ability to travel 25% to surrounding areas and out of town for projects, as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: DOE

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k match 3% and 50% up to 5%, Life Insurance, PTO - 2.5 hours accrued weekly, Sabbatical Leave (available to take after your probationary period).

Must be capable of working independently on construction sites where louder noises are common. This role requires driving to various job sites, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the stamina for extended periods of standing. These physical capabilities are essential for effectively managing the varied and dynamic aspects of construction project management, ensuring both individual efficiency and the overall success of projects. Requirements:
  • Entry Level, will train
  • Class A or Class B CDL license a plus
  • Available to work overtime and weekends as required to meet client schedules
  • Ability to lift drill pipe and materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Must have an excellent driving record within company standards
  • Local candidates preferred; no relocation benefits offered.
