Job Description

Beech Mountain Resort in Beech Mountain, NC is looking for a director of racing to join our team. We are located on 1007 Beech Mountain Pkwy. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and hard-working.

The Alpine Race Director plays a critical role in the success of the race program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about snow sports racing, with a strong commitment to safety, organization, and athlete development. If you have the experience, skills, and enthusiasm for this position, we encourage you to apply. This is a seasonal position that can be full or part-time for the right candidate. You MUST be able to ski or snowboard for this position as well as be familiar with race operations and course setup on the snow.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on the performance of the race program, including results and overall progress.
  • Coordinate with race officials, volunteers, and sponsors to ensure smooth race operations.
  • Manage the organization and execution of all snow sport races, including setting up the courses, timing equipment, and other necessary materials.
  • Oversee the safety of all race participants and volunteers.
  • Ensure that all races are conducted in accordance with rules and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other ski programs and organizations to promote the race program.

Qualifications

  • Effectively work in a high-pressure environment in collaboration with resort management and program leadership. *
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills, with the ability to coordinate complex operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues quickly and effectively.
  • Experience in Microsoft word, Excel and web-based membership management software
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to ski at an advanced level on all mountain terrain and perform tasks in a ski race environment.
  • Able to carry heavy race equipment for course set up while skiing
  • Able to work flexible hours in inclement weather
