POLICE DETECTIVE (CRIMINAL SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR)

Salary: $66,597.00, Grade: 21, Closing Date: Open Until Filled
Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry is seeking a Criminal Special Investigator to join our ASPC - Eyman team. The investigator will handle criminal violations, conduct interviews, analyze records, investigate crime scenes, and present evidence in court.
Job Duties:
Investigate crime scenes, compile findings, and testify in proceedings.
Search for evidence, record, and submit for analysis.
Conduct threat assessments, gather intelligence, and monitor criminal trends.
Notify supervisors of potential security risks.
Develop informants and gather leads regarding criminal activities.
Maintain surveillance, perform undercover operations, and debrief gang members.
Analyze trends, prepare reports, and handle court validations.
Execute search and arrest warrants.
Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies.
Attend required training and maintain peace officer certification.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Laws, investigation techniques, prison gang history, inmate management, law enforcement systems.
Skills in: Work management, law enforcement techniques, communication, relationship building, organization, public speaking, report writing.
Ability to: Lift and carry heavy loads, conduct surveillance, maintain confidentiality, produce reports, and communicate effectively.
Preferences & Requirements:
At least 1 year of law enforcement investigative experience and AZPOST peace officer certification. Active AZPOST certification required within one year of employment. Background checks, drug tests, medical exams, polygraph, and psychological evaluations are mandatory. Valid driver’s license and insurance are required for driving duties. All new hires must complete E-Verify.
