Duties & Responsibilities Establishes projects by screening alternatives and choosing the optimum solution. Prepares project basis documentation by performing cost and economic return studies. Coordinates chemical process design by studying operational ability and reliability; estimates maintenance, operating, and energy costs. Evaluates safety and environmental compliance, as well as outlines start-up and operating procedures. Acquires environmental permits by completing applications, presenting information, and responding to requests and questions. Initiates projects by preparing capital appropriation requests. Upgrades process design by reviewing proposed changes in plant operations. Prepares operators by performing training. Updates job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. Achieves engineering and organization mission by accomplishing related results as required.
