Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented  Cable Technician to install, maintain, and repair cable systems for television, internet, and telecommunications services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with coaxial, fiber optic, and Ethernet cabling, and be comfortable working in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure cable systems, including coaxial, fiber optic, and structured cabling.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cable signal, connectivity, or performance.

  • Perform service upgrades, installations, and disconnections.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.

  • Maintain and document all work, including service logs and customer reports.

  • Test cable systems and signal strength using appropriate testing equipment.

  • Read blueprints, technical diagrams, and work orders to determine cabling needs.

  • Operate equipment such as cable reels, ladders, and test meters.

  • Provide excellent customer service and educate customers on system use.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle (if applicable) in safe working order.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a cable technician or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of cable installation techniques and equipment.

  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and procedures (e.g., OSHA).

  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb poles/ladders, and work in confined spaces.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings if needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with fiber optic installations and splicing.

  • Knowledge of networking and IP-based systems.

  • Certifications such as BICSI, FOA, or OSHA 10/30 are a plus.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor and indoor settings, including residential homes, office buildings, and industrial sites.

  • Exposure to various weather conditions.

  • Use of hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing devices.
