Position Overview: The Body Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the body shop department, including staff supervision, production scheduling, safety compliance, and equipment maintenance. This position ensures high-quality repairs and efficient workflow, while promoting a safe and productive environment.
Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Supervision - Supervise body shop technicians and assign daily tasks.
- Interpret job orders and assign duties to team members.
- Conduct safety meetings and manage local safety program reporting.
- Motivate and support employees to meet performance and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping for shop employees.
Production Oversight & Quality Control - Study production schedules to estimate labor requirements.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production goals.
- Ensure all products meet specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze and resolve work problems; assist technicians when needed.
Safety & Compliance - Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain equipment and coordinate necessary service or repairs.
- Enforce safety standards and housekeeping practices throughout the shop.
Process Improvement & Coordination - Recommend improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Coordinate activities with other departments to optimize workflow.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an automotive or RV body shop leadership role
- Knowledge of RV repair, carpentry, fiberglass, and electrical systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret job specifications and schedules.
- Proficient with computer software used for scheduling and timekeeping.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements: - Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and using hands and arms.
- Must be able to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25-50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, peripheral, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
