Job Description

Our client, a fast-growing leader in the residential construction space, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to lead litigation and support a wide range of legal matters across affiliated builder operations. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting directly to the General Counsel, with a clear path to a VP of Litigation title for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a litigation docket, including oversight of outside counsel.
• Advise leadership on disputes, warranty issues, construction defect claims, and risk management.
• Draft and review pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal briefs.
• Support departments on employment law, regulatory matters, and contract templates.
• Track and report on legal and regulatory developments relevant to operations.

Qualifications:

• J.D. and license to practice law in Texas.
• 5+ years of litigation experience, ideally in construction, real estate, or homebuilding.
• Familiarity with DTPA, RCLA, and residential construction defect law.
• Strong written/oral advocacy skills and the ability to work independently.
• Comfortable interfacing with C-suite and cross-functional teams.
